I will be taking part in the 20 Books of Summer Challenge for the fourth year. I have not always been successful, but this is one of my favourite and easiest challenges. For those of you that are new to the challenge it runs from 1st June – 1st September and is hosted by the lovely Cathy746books (please click the link for the rules and sign up info).
The nice thing about this challenge is that you can customize it. You can select 10, 15 or 20 books for this challenge, and you can change up the books as the challenge goes on. You can choose any books or themes you choose. Sounds pretty simple, but we shall see.
I am going with 20 Books. I always try to read Summery or Beach reads for this challenge and try to pick some off my backlist. Here are the books on my list. I try not to change them, but if something summery calls my name, then I will make a change.
Progress: 20/20 (August 23)
- The Bookshop by the Sea by Denise Hunter – Review
- Dreaming of Florence by T.A. Williams – Review
- Summer in Provence by Lucy Coleman – Review
- Secrets from a Happy Marriage by Maisey Yates – Review
- Courting Mr. Emerson by Melody Carlson – Review
- The Happy Camper by Melody Carlson – Review
- Met Her Match by Jude Deveraux – Review
- Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Melinda Metz – Review
- A Country Wedding by Leigh Duncan – Review
- The Moon Over Kilmore Quay by Carmel Harrington – Review
- The Stepsisters by Susan Mallery – Review
- The Summer of No Attachments by Lori Foster – Review
- The Butterfly Garden by Sophie Anderson – Review
- The Lily Garden by Barbara Josselsohn – Review
- In the Key of Family by Makenna Lee – Review
- Summer on a Sunny Island by Sue Moorcroft – Review
- A Brambleberry Summer by RaeAnne Thayne – Review
- If the Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy – Review
I have ebooks or physical books of all of these, but if I can find audiobooks, I will probably do a read/listen instead.
Will you be joining the challenge? Which book should I start with?

Your list is perfect for the spirit of summer. Good luck!
I’m hoping to read twenty of my 1001 Children’s Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up.

Do they have to be set in summer?

I see it as a nice way to whittle down my backlog of summer reads. Good luck, Carla 🙂

I hope we both do well and enjoy our summery reads Noriko. I usually use all of my older summer books, but this year I have a combination.

You’ve got some good ones on your list!!
I say start with Courting Mr. Emerson since I have that one and haven’t read it yet. 😉 But honestly, I’d like to hear your thoughts on most of these. I read The Happy Camper already.

Okay, Laurie, June 1st, I will be Courting Mr. Emerson. The audiobook is available through hoopla so it is already on my favourites list.

Wow!! I love your picks and I want to read every one of them! I’m not sure if I’m going to do this yet but if I do I think I should make my list from my Netgalley shelf to help my percentage…..yeah nothing is going to help that poor number!😥🙄😱😂💕📚☕🤗

Oh, these are all on either my NG or EW shelf. One of them from 2015. 😲😲 I added the more recent ones that I got as well because I am trying to read my recent titles closer to publication time. You know how hard it is for me to stick to a TBR, so we shall see what happens. 📚💖🙄

Thanks Yvo. I am doing Christmas in July, I probably should have added some of those ones. Oh well, summer by the pool it is.

You can always change things around later on… Although summery reads by the pool doesn’t sound bad either.

I can’t wait to get the pool open. A couple more weeks. Reading by the pool is one of my favourite things to do in the summer.

I know how you feel Nicki. Last year I decided I wouldn’t change any out and I only read about half of them. This year I didn’t choose as many old books, but have put some ARCS on as long as they were summery.
