Hello all, I have had an extremely busy two weeks. I have tried to post my reviews, but was not able to keep up with the memes I am participating in, and am way behind on reading and commenting on blogs, but I am okay with that. Continue reading “Monday Musings on Thursday”
Hello all, this is going to be short but definitely sweet. I am once again running behind posting and reading blogs, but that is because I spent the day with my grandchildren while my son took his wife to the hospital. Baby #3 is supposed to arrive, but so far, nothing yet. She has been having contractions since late this morning and was admitted to the hospital, but this baby is being stubborn. Hope Baby Peter decides to arrive sooner rather than later.
It has been 100 years since the ending of the “War to end all wars” and we are still not living in peace. Let us take the time to remember the sacrifice of the many men, women and civilians who died in WWI and all the armed conflicts since then. We have so much to be thankful for because of these sacrifices. I do not know about the US, but in Canada, churches will be ringing their bells at sunset to commemorate that day back in 1918.
“Why Wear a Poppy?” – By Don Crawford
It has been a few weeks since I posted a Monday Musings. I have been extremely busy this last week. I spent some time with my grandchildren, including my grandson’s birthday party, here at my house. There were way too many people, but fortunately a lot were adults, so clean up was not up to me. Here are a couple pictures of the kids with their favourite Paw Patrol Characters.
I wanted to start by letting everyone know that I am falling behind reading all your wonderful blogs. I was baking last week and then away for the weekend, so I am now trying to catch up with all the blogs I follow as well as comments on my own posts.
This past weekend, I was at a Women’s Retreat with a couple of dozen ladies from my church. We went to a wonderful place called Crieff Hills and Conference Centre about 3.5 hours from my house where we learned about The Sabbath and how to find joy in Sabbath moments whenever we can, especially with how busy many people’s lives are.
Needless to say, I did not have access to check email and blogs. I did refresh my mind, my heart and soul with music, reflection, discussion and scripture.
This week I have some appointments (optometrist today where he dilated my eyes, then froze them) to find out that I am beginning to develop cataracts which is why my eyesight has been blurring somewhat. Tomorrow I am going out of town again with my sister to visit my 94 year old aunt who I try to visit with at least 6 times per year, then off to Grand Bend (a few hours away) on Thursday to see a production of Holiday Inn at the Huron County Playhouse.
Well, that is what I have coming up. I hope you all have a great week ahead and take time for yourself reading, reflecting or just finding joy in the world around you.
I promised myself I would update regularly to let everyone know how I am doing, as well as to keep myself accountable. If you did not see my post on August 6th, I am struggling with my weight and due to that, dealing with some health issues. When I went to see my doctor at the end of July, I promised myself that I needed to buckle down and take care of myself. My goal was to be down 30 pounds by the time I went back to see him for my three month checkup at the end of October.
Well, it has been 6 weeks since I began to eat healthy and remain active. I have had a bit of a setback.
I broke my toe and a bone in my foot on Labour Day. I was trying to move a lawn bed out of my way with my foot, as my hands were full, and the chair did not move, OUCH.
Needless to say, my activity level is pretty much down to nothing right now, but I am still eating healthy. I have lost 22.5 pounds in these five weeks. I am not feeling a lot better yet, except mentally because I am sticking to it. I will say that my clothes are fitting better and I am able to wear a few more items. Feeling more positive that I can do this!
Well, that is it for now, but I will post again in October. Hopefully I will be down at least the 30 pounds I was hoping for. Thanks for all the encouragement you have given me.
So, this is not my WWW post or even a book review, it is me rambling.
I got up at 7:00 this morning and it is now 11:45. I am still in my pyjamas and have finally finished reading all my email and catching up on blog posts. Today will be a lazy day. I got a sunburn yesterday sitting outside and paddling in my pool with a friend, so probably won’t be going in today. I am listening to a youtube compilation of Christian music, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcUHvDkLgMY, and mellowing out.
For those of you who read about my healthy life changes, I have lost 15.5 pounds in just over two weeks. I have been eating healthy, but have upped my activity from nothing to anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes a day. I am feeling pretty good about my decisions, but today I think I need a break.
Okay, so it is almost time for lunch, I better get dressed before I have to get the mail. I hope you all have a great day and enjoy the rest of this week.
