Welcome to Itβs Monday! What are you Reading? Itβs hosted by Kathryn from Book Date, this is a weekly event to share what weβve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind.
What a beautiful weekend we had. Yesterday, it went up to 79! I sat outside for awhile and hope to be able to cut the grass again tomorrow, depending upon what my chiropractor tells me. This morning, I sat and watched two rabbits doing what might have been a mating dance in my garden. They were hopping over each other and chasing around the bushes. They hopped off, to do whatever and I don’t know if I will have bunnies in the next month or so. With unpacking, sorting, putting things away, and doing laundry as well as some yardwork, I did a number on my back. As of Wednesday, I could hardly move. I have been to the chiropractor a couple of times and am feeling better. He says it is only a grade 2 back strain, but needless to say, my first golf session of the season was a no go. Maybe next week.π€π€ On the bright side, I did lots of reading/listening and writing reviews while I was chair bound. I watched lots of hockey, local news (I missed it when I was away), a movie that wasn’t very good (Genie starring Melissa McCarthy) and all of Will Trent Season 2 that is out so far.
So, what did I read or listen to last week? I was able to read or listen to 18 books/audiobooks including 1 book I used for a study over the last couple of months, 1 novella, 1 short story and 1 MG/YA book. Only 7 were on my TBR that I set for the week, so once again, a lot of mood reading. I read 2 books for blog tours, and listened to a lot of audiobooks from Netgalley and Kindle Unlimited. I had planned on keeping up with reviews this week, but have only reviewed 15 of these books. That means, I am 1 book behind for 2024. π€¦ββοΈClicking on the cover will take you to my review, if I have posted it.
Reading Now:
What Will I Read Next? Maybe…..
I have two books to read for a blog tour, 2 for my top ten lists, and a couple of audiobooks from the library that are due in the next week. I have some audiobooks on my Netgalley shelf that are long overdue a review, and I still have a lot more middle grade/children’s fiction novels on my Netgalley backlist, so I hope to read a couple of them. I know I will not read all of these over the next week, but these are the books I hope to choose from.Β
Β Β Β
So, another ambitious TBR this week, so I will see which ones I get to. I am home and after unpacking, I have a few twinges in my back, so will be taking it easy. Probably more reading than listening this week.Β What did you read this week? What are you upcoming reading plans?

Hope your back is better so you can get back to your golf. Our weather is very up and down at the moment, but I think it’s starting to lean towards better. Have a great week!

Aw, heck. Sorry you missed your golf game, and I hope you are doing much, much better. I need to get to the chiropractor myself. Summer Reading looks fun. I always seem to enjoy McKinlay’s books.

My goal is to get there next week. He said to get a cart and not pull my clubs and see how I feel. My chiropractor is my saviour for sure. I have a few books to read for blot tours, then the Jenn McKinlay book is up.

Thanks, Julie. I am looking forward to getting to it. I was thinking of saving it for 20 Books of Summer, but that is still over a month away.

Thanks, Jodie. Everyday, it gets a bit better. This morning I worked outside for a bit and it seemed to be okay. I love watching the birds, squirrels, bunnies etc. out my window while drinking my morning coffee. It makes me smile and start the day of right. You have a great week as well.

I have been relaxing for the last several days, not time to start getting the yard ready for summer.

Oo, I see The Price of Atonement on your what’s-next list. I loved that book. Super atmospheric, Gothic-y eeriness.

It really is good. The defendant is a bit weird. My wife suggested it. I am liking it so far

You’ve got a nice variety of books to choose from for your next read, Carla. Enjoy. Isn’t there someone who can mow the grass for you? You don’t want to be going backwards with the strain. Take care my friend. ππ

I have such a hard time choosing, Sandy, because I have so many good ones to choose from. I used the riding lawnmower, so it wasn’t too bad. I am taking lots of care, Sandy and only doing things for short periods of time. I didn’t do the weed whacking, because I know that would have aggravated it. πβ€

Always an interesting selection in your posts. I’m finally listening to Melanie Benjamin’s California Golden on this week’s commute.

I’m sorry your back has been such a pain (pun intended…sorry π). You certainly have been moving through the books though! I just finished up Six Ostriches and will be posting my review soon. It will be interesting to compare our reactions.

Ugh! I often tweak my back! So debilitating. Itβs difficult to even rest comfortably. We love Will Trent! So smartly written!

I am feeling a lot better, my chiropractor has done wonders. I really like the series. Angie is so much more likable than she is in the books.
