Hello and Happy Friday! I decided to join in The Positivity Wave. Originally started by Meggy s@Chocolate’n’Waffles but I saw it posted by nickimags @ The Secret Library Book Blog and Jonetta@BlueMoodCafe. It is a time to spread some positivity amongst all the doom and gloom on social media and in the news. Please feel free to join in with your own Happy Friday post and link to Meggy’s post so that she knows and say ‘hi’
Once again, this is a two week post as I was out of town last Friday with my friend taking her to appointments. I am grateful that we have such wonderful medical care and that it is universal, so everyone can be treated and not go into catastrophic debt to do so.
I left my photo of the pool as my header because I am grateful that the temperatures are still nice enough for me to get in the pool almost everyday and exercise. Time is ticking though. Autumn officially starts in a few days.
Final sleepover for the two oldest grandchildren. Once they begin school, we will not be able to have in-person visits due to my health concerns. We made the most of it with swimming, sidewalk art, a trip to the park, puzzles and games.
Cooking for one is not a fun thing to do. I took the plunge and subscribed to one of the many food prep services. They send the recipes and the ingredients for two meals, each one for two. That means I get four meals per week at an introductory price of $18.00. I got my first one this week and it was quite tasty. My first meal was Steak with Balsamic Glazed Onions, although mine didn’t quite look the same, my presentation is not the best.
Speaking of cooking, this week I made Beer Bread. It is so easy and so tasty. Thanks to Diane at In Diane’s Kitchen for this recipe.
My church has finally reopened for In Person Worship. I was quite pleased with the precautions taken and I felt very comfortable. How peaceful and moving it was to worship in the church with other worshipers.
I am still golfing and enjoying getting out with others in a safe and fun activity.
I have read some wonderful books over the past couple of weeks and listened to quite a few audiobooks. With my eyes getting worse, Audiobooks have been my salvation. As well, my local library has reopened for in-person visits. I am going to see what playaway books they have when I visit this week.
School has started and it was decided that my grandchildren would attend in person. They were so excited to go back. I am happy for them, but sad that I won’t be seeing them for awhile as I am in the high risk group. It was my granddaughter’s very first day of JK and she loved it, always a princess.
I found a new website to watch sports. I watched the Detroit Lions opening game this year. Of course, they lost in the last two minutes again, so it looks like they are back to normal at least.
When my mom was sick, she asked each of us to pick one thing we wanted. I picked the old grandfather clock. It stopped working a few years ago and I always missed the ticking and the hourly chimes. Well, this week, I took it upon myself to see if I could get it going. Using shims to level it and moving it to a slightly different spot, I got it to work. It is running fast, so I have to keep adjusting the time, but I am loving having it running again.
Finally, here are a few things that made me smile and/or laugh this week.
I continue to believe that recognizing the good things that happen each week, means I will not dwell on the not so good things. I am truly blessed with all the good things in my life.
So to finish up, I ask that you try to be grateful for one thing each day and I am sure it will lift your spirits. What are you Grateful for today?

I haven’t had beer bread for years, Carla. I used to make it in the coal range and have never had any luck using an electric oven to bake it. But I think that I will give it another try. I am so glad that you got your clock going, even if it is fast. Leave it that way. 2021 will come faster. 😂🤣 My grandson had a meltdown today because he’s not 4, and he has two birthdays to go before he can go to school. He can’t understand why he can’t just be 4, and thinks that if he has a birthday party that will make him 4! He went and sat in the corner by my daughter in law’s grandmother clock and cried when we told him it didn’t work that way 😂🤣😂🤣 Have a wonderful week and thank you for sharing your family and your week with us. ❤

Ohh, that is so sweet. 🤗💗 My granddaughter was ready a couple of years ago (at least she thought she was), but we were able to convince her she gets to spend lots of time with daddy, the Nonni and Grandma. I love your thought about the clock, I can’t agree more.🤣🤣 Give the bread a try, it turned out great. Diane’s recipes are always wonderful. Have a wonderful weekend. 😀🌞

I am so grateful that I had an Advanced Writing Class of two women today, face-to-face. They both live in the same town I do, and both needed to straighten themselves out on commas and sentence fragments. We got to know each other (which is what I have missed most) and had lunch together before they had to leave to pick up their kids from school. It was wonderful, and both women left with fresh-baked cookies for their kids and husbands. It was fun!!

That sounds awesome Rae. I know how much you enjoy meeting face to face with your students. So nice that you made them cookies too. You are the best.

The clock is so sweet. I have tried to manage my time a bit better this week. Though there is a lot of room for improvement

I actually got a lot done this week, which is why I am exhausted today. Stayed in my jammies all day. There is always room for improvement, just don’t try and do it all at once.

I didn’t realize he lived with you Carol. I hope and pray all goes well. So far we have had two cases in schools here, 1 grade school and 1 high school. I hope we don’t get many more.

Lovely post, Carla. I really enjoy reading about all the positive things. What am I grateful for today? My 13-year-old daughter went back to school just last week and, on Wednesday of this week, she fell and broke her arm, bless her. She is grateful that she doesn’t have to do PE for 4 weeks and we’re both very grateful it was her left arm and she’s right-handed. After being out of school since March, the last thing we’d have wanted was for her to be unable to write now she’s back! Wishing you a fabulous week 🙂

Thanks Jessica. Oh dear, that is terrible for her, but looking at the bright side is the way to go. I love that she is happy to be exempt from PE, my kind of girl.

You are very kind, Carla, to help your friend and I am glad to know that you are able to go to your church. We are going away for a few days to the mountains next week which I am looking forward to very much.

Nice review of your life. I am so excited about finding a cat. We are both in the high-risk category. We brought prepare meals for awhile. The one our insurance okay was awful. I found a place to buy foods and they are good but Kathy is bringing homemade meals. I am thankful, I can still read, can dress myself, and walk.

I am so glad that you have some things to be grateful for Betty. You are lucky that you have someone to bring you in meals. I can still cook, but I thought I would try something different. I am just doing it for a couple of weeks for variety, but when the price goes up to the normal amount, I will stop.
