Saturday Morning for Kids

This meme was started by Rae Longest at Powerful Women Readers, but as she is busy with her bookstore, she is not posting as much and asked me to take over. I hope some of you will join in and post those reviews of children’s or middlegrade books on Saturdays. As I am a grandmother, who loves to read to her grandchildren, a mother who loved to read to and with her children, and a retired teacher librarian, this meme is right up my alley.

Thriller/Suspense Reviews: Last Rites, Wonderland, Mercy #BookReview #audiobook #BeatTheBacklist2023

These are the last three thrillers/suspense stories that I read and/or listened to in 2023. I really liked all of them, although they were very different from each other. One was romantic suspense, one was a creepy thriller and the last was an exciting thrill ride of an adventure. I recommend them all if you enjoy these genres.

Thriller Thursday: The Girls on Chalk Hill, The Antiquity Affair, The New Mother & The Housekeepers #BookReview #Audiobook

Welcome to Thriller Thursday here on Carla Loves To Read. I am stretching a bit this week with all of these books. They all have a thriller/twisty bent to them, but could be considered more mystery and/or adventure than a thriller.

Orphan X 6 & 7: Prodigal Son, Dark Horse by Gregg Hurwitz #BookReview #Audiobook #2022AudiobookChallenge #BeatTheBacklist2022

The Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz is full of action, danger, violence and great characters. I do recommend you read the series in order, but the author does give enough information in each book to follow the story.

Never After – Where Real Life and Fairytales Collide #BookReview #MiddleGrades #Audiobook @MacmillanAudio @MelissadelaCruz

The Chronicles of Never After

I just read and listened to the first two books in the Chronicles of Never After series and enjoyed them. They are geared to middle grades, but can be read by anyone who enjoys a reimagined fairytale, but the plots and language are simpler than others I have read. I was a huge fan of the television series, Once Upon a Time and thought this series had some similarities, especially finding out the stories were not always true, or there was more to them than what was in the book. Scroll down to check out my reviews.
