This meme was started by Rae Longest at Powerful Women Readers. As I am a grandmother, who loves to read to her grandchildren, a mother who loved to read to and with her children, and a retired teacher librarian, this meme really attracted me.

3.5 Stars:
As per usual, I began reading this series partway through. As well, there were several short stories written between the full length books that I had not read. For the Finishing the Series challenge, I wanted to read all the short stories and the novels that I had missed along the way. This meant I wanted to read: An Alaskan Wedding #1.5, A Wild River Retreat #2.5, A Wild River Match #3.5 & Wild Alaskan Hearts #4.5 as well as Sweet Alaskan Fall #3 and Stars Over Alaska #4. I listened to the full length novels and read the short stories all over the last few weeks. I am glad I finished this series as I really enjoyed it. I’m not sure if it is finished or not, but I am caught up.

Full Length – A Sweet Alaskan Fall & Stars Over Alaska”The Widow’s Island series is ten novellas, so far, set on Widow’s Island or the many small islands in the vicinity. This series is written by a pair of authors, Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh. They feature former FBI special agent, Cate Wilde, her fiancé and island doctor, Henry Powers as well as local Deputy Tessa Black and her fiancé, park ranger Logan Wilde. Melinda Leigh’s novellas are written from the point of view of Deputy Tessa Black, while Kendra Elliot’s focus on Tessa’s best friend Cate, a former FBI agent, who also happens to be Tessa’s fiance’s sister, although they appear in all the books. I listened to #5 to #10 over the last three weeks and loved the narration. Each audiobook is around 3 hours to listen to at normal speed and were great to listen to when I had a long car ride or mundane tasks around the house. I recommend this series and if you have Kindle Unlimited, they are all available with the read/listen option.

If you like cozy mysteries set in or around bookstores, you will love this series. If you enjoy protagonists with interesting jobs or interests, you will love meeting Nora Pennington, a self-styled bibliotherapist. If you enjoy small town stories with some quirky or wounded characters, then I recommend this series.

Both of these books deal with family upheaval and how they deal with it. There is also an aspect of friendship and community in both stories.

Both of these stories were recently published together as an audiobook: Deadly Alaskan Pursuit. There are nine stories in this series at this time, and I am looking forward to reading or listening to more of them. Thanks to HarperAudio for my copy of this audiobook upon request. The rating and opinions shared are my own.

Well, these three all satisfied that hunger. All of these stories had plots that were different from others I had read and pulled me into the stories, albeit not right from the start. It took a bit to become immersed in the story, but I definitely recommend them all. I also did read/listens with all of them and recommend either format depending upon your preference.

Lots of roadblocks, issues to deal with and many emotions. I recommend both You Only Live Once and It’s Better This Way.
