Cozy Mysteries: Let’s Fake a Deal, Put Out to Pasture, Murder at the Blueberry Festival #BookReview #Audiobook #BeatTheBacklist2023 @Dreamscapeaudio @TantorAudio @SHarrisAuthor @aflowerwriter @darci_hannah

Three of my favourite cozy mystery authors and series found their way to my library through the Hoopla app. I enjoyed listening to all of these and it was great to catch up on these series.

Police/Crime/FBI mini-reviews: Nine Elms, Deep Tide & Seven Girls Gone #BookReview #Audiobook #BeatTheBacklist2023 @Dreamscapeaudio @HarlequinBooks

Three authors I enjoy, three series I will continue to read and follow and three great listening experiences. These books are all crime related with various groups investigating (police, FBI, criminology professor/ex police). All were fast paced and edge of your seat stories. I listened to them all over the last few weeks and recommend any of them.

Dying Declaration by Solange Ritchie #BookReview #BlogTour @solangeauthor

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Dying Declaration, the third book in the Dr. Catherine “Cat” Powers series. This is a crime thriller with a legal bent and it grabbed me right from the start. Scroll down for my review and a giveaway. Check out some of the other stops on the tour for an excerpt, guest posts, an interview and more.

Happy Holidays! More Christmas Book Mini-Reviews: Let It Snow, A Match Made at Christmas, A Highlander’s Holiday Wife #BookReview #Audiobook #20BooksForChristmas #2022AudiobookChallenge

I am continuing to enjoy Christmas stories and only have one more to read for my 20 Books for Christmas Challenge. Let It Snow by Sue Moorcroft is #19, while A Match Made For Christmas and The Highlander’s Holiday Wife make #14 and #15 on the extra list. I can’t believe I have read 34 Christmas stories since the beginning of October. These three are so different from each other, but all were enjoyable and I am glad I picked them up.

True Colors Series: The White City (1) and The Blue Cloak (5) #BookReview #Audiobook #BeatTheBacklist #2022AudiobookChallenge @TantorAudio

The True Colors series is a great Christian Historical Fiction Series. The stories are based on actual historical events, but with a fictionalized story. The thing I enjoy is many of the events are not well known, so I end up heading out and doing a bit of research on my own each time. The other interesting thing is that each of the books is written by a different author, but they are all well written and follow the same theme. Although there are 12 books in the series, they can be read in any order, as they are all separate stories about different events. I am working my way through this series for my Finish a Series Challenge as well as Beat the Backlist.

Last month, I wrote a post Books to Read Based on my Zodiac Sign: Saggitarius (November 22 – December 22). I planned on picking one of the books to read before December 22nd and based on reviews I read, I selected The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow and chose to listen to the audiobook as it was available at my library. I really enjoyed it and am glad that is the one I selected. Scroll down for my thoughts.

Two Women’s Fiction/Romance #BookReviews: The Family Journal, Heard it in a Love Song #Audiobook

Both The Family Journal and Heard it in a Love Song were a combination of Women’s Fiction and Romance. They had women making decisions about their lives as well as deciding what they wanted out of that life. Yes, there is romance and love involved, but that is not all there is in these stories. I did read/listens with both of them and enjoyed both formats.

Some Cozy Mysteries to check out: Read or Alive, Deadly Vows, Deadly Ride #BookReview #Audiobook #CozyMystery

August was cozy mystery here at Carla Loves to Read and I spent some time catching up on some series that I had fallen behind on. I will say that although I enjoyed these books, they were not as exciting as I had hoped. They had good mysteries, but I missed the quirkiness I normally enjoy in a cozy mystery. I listened to all of these books using Hoopla through my local library.
