YA Mini-Reviews: The Drowned Woods, Enola Holmes and the Elegant Escapade #BookReview #Audiobook #2022AudiobookChallenge

Over the last few weeks, I did read/listens for a couple of YA books that I very much enjoyed. The Drowned Woods is a dark fairytale/fantasy/folklore story from Wales and Enola Holmes and the Elegant Escapade is a mystery/adventure story. I recommend them both.

Historical Mysteries/Crime: The Red Palace, A Rip Through Time #BookReview #Audiobook #2022AudiobookChallenge

It’s now secret that I enjoy a good mystery and these two, The Red Palace and A Rip Through Time definitely fit that bill. These are historical mysteries, one set in Korea in 1758 and the other in Scotland in 1869. Although very different from one another, they were both excellent stories that I recommend.

Mystery, Suspense: The Couple at Number 9, The Family Remains #BookReview #Audiobook #2022AudiobookChallenge @HarperAudio @Dougieclaire @SimonAudio @lisajewelluk

I have read several mysteries, thrillers and suspense stories over the last few weeks and am trying to get caught up on my reviews. I listened to these two stories and enjoyed them very much. Neither were fast moving thrillers, but they were steady, interesting, gripping, enjoyable stories with wonderful narration.

Three Thriller Reviews: Stay Awake by Megan Goldin, Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister & 56 Days by Catherine Ryan Howard #BookReview #Audiobook #2022AudiobookChallenge @megangoldin @GillianMAuthor @cathryanhoward @HarperCollinsCa @HarperAudio @MacmillanAudio @BlackstoneAudio @StMartinsPress

I enjoy a good thriller and when I find one with a different premise, I want to snuggle down and see where the author is going to take me. Well, these three all satisfied that hunger. All of these stories had plots that were different from others I had read and pulled me into the stories, albeit not right from the start. It took a bit to become immersed in the story, but I definitely recommend them all. I also did read/listens with all of them and recommend either format depending upon your preference.

#20BooksofSummer2022 Mini-Reviews Deadly Summer, Blazing Summer #BookReview #Audiobook #2022AudiobookChallenge #BeatTheBacklist2022 @DeniseMSwank

Deadly Summer and Blazing Summer are books #7 and #8 in my 20 Books of Summer 2022 Challenge. Although they have “Summer” in the title, it is because of the main characters name. These are mysteries, with Summer Butler working as a PI for a reality television show. They are not quite cozy mysteries, but have a lot of the characteristics. It seems like these might be the only two, but I would love to read more Darling Investigations if the author were to continue the series.
