Historical Fiction Reviews: The Blackout Book Club, The Vanishing of Margaret Small #BookReview #Audiobook @emblabooks @neilalexander_ @bethany_house @recordedbooks

I do enjoy historical fiction, especially when it deals with times and situations that I don’t know a lot about. Both of these books were perfect for educating me about something that had happened in the past and I didn’t know a lot about. I found The Vanishing of Margaret Small to be very emotional for me and want to thank Sandy over at Sandy’s Book A Day for this recommendation. You can read her review here.

Book Reviews for Black History Month: : No Bootstraps When You’re Barefoot by Wes Hall and The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict &  Victoria Christopher Murray #BookReview #Audiobook

February is Black History Month and I had planned on reading several books by Authors of Colour as well as books about Black history. Unfortunately, best laid plans and all that, I only read two of my list of 6 possible. One Non-Fiction: No Bootstraps When You’re Barefoot, and one Historical Fiction: The Personal Librarian. Both were excellent and I recommend them both.

So I am on schedule with this challenge reading/listening to the first two of twelve books for this challenge. The Butterfly Room was recommended by Sandy at Sandy’s Book a Day Blog and The Rose Garden was recommended by Bev at BEVERLEY A BAIRD. I enjoyed both of these books and look forward to the next one, One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid suggested by Susan @ Susan Loves Books) for March.

Saturday Morning for Kids: The Barefoot Dreams of Petra Luna & The Other Side of the River #BookReview #Audiobook

This meme was started by Rae Longest at Powerful Women Readers. As I am a grandmother, who loves to read to her grandchildren, a mother who loved to read to and with her children, and a retired teacher librarian, this meme really attracted me.

Happy Holidays! Christmas Book Reviews: Christmas is for Children, Alfie the Christmas Cat, Just in Time for Christmas, It Happened One Christmas Eve #BookReview #Audiobook #20BooksForChristmas #2022AudiobookChallenge #BeatTheBacklist2022

Well, I did it. With still 14 days until the end of the month, I completed my 20 Books for Christmas 2022. Alfie the Christmas Cat was my 9th backlist book and 20th book on the original list. Of course, I didn’t stop at 20 and there are three more books reviewed her that are set at Christmas, making my total of Christmas stories since the beginning of October, 38. Will I make it to 40??

Christmas/Winter Book Mini-Reviews: Christmas in Vermont, Mistle Text, The Christmas Lights, Orphan in the Snow #BookReview #20BooksForChristmas #HoHoHoRat #BeatTheBacklist2022

I am continuing to enjoy Christmas stories as I prepare for the Christmas Season. I am participating in 20 Books for Christmas, as well as the Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon, so was able to read or listen to several this week. A couple of these were not really Christmas, but more winter themed, but they were already on my list. Some are also backlist books, so I am actually ticking off 3 lists with one book. In the #20BooksForWinter these are #16, #17, and #18. One was not on that list.
