Finishing The Series: DI Kim Stone – Deadly Cry (13), Twisted Lies (14), Stolen Ones (15) #BookReview #Audiobook @Bookouture

At the beginning of 2022, I set myself the goal of catching up on the DI Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons. I had been purchasing the audiobooks along the way with the plan of listening to them. I love Jan Cramer’s narration of this series. At the time, there were 15 published books in the series. Technically, I did catch up in the sense that I listened to everything that had been published prior to 2022 but, there were two more published in 2022. I will say that the crimes in this series are often quite grisly, so if you are squeamish, they might not be for you. I did not get all the reviews posted, but here are the last three I listened to, with the hope that I will listen to #16 and #17 before the end of January.

Finish a Series: Kate Burkholder by Linda Castillo – Pray For Silence (#2), Her Last Breath (#5), The Dead Will Tell (#6), Disappeared (#12.5), Blood Moon (#13.5) #BookReview #Audiobook #2022AudiobookChallenge #FinishingTheSeries2022

The final series I finished for my Finish The Series Challenge was the Kate Burkholder series by Linda Castillo. As you can see I had missed 3 of the full length novels along the way, and I also listened to the two most recent novellas. I enjoyed them all, but Pray for Silence was just a bit more gruesome than I had expected which resulted in a lower rating from me. I enjoy Kathleen McInerney’s narration of the audiobook and besides Pray for Silence I listened to all of these. If you enjoy crime thrillers, police procedurals or Amish Detective stories, I recommend this series.

#FinishingTheSeries2022 – Wild River by Jennifer Snow: Novellas – An Alaskan Wedding, A Wild River Retreat, A Wild River Match & Wild Alaskan Hearts. Full Length – A Sweet Alaskan Fall & Stars Over Alaska

As per usual, I began reading this series partway through. As well, there were several short stories written between the full length books that I had not read. For the Finishing the Series challenge, I wanted to read all the short stories and the novels that I had missed along the way. This meant I wanted to read: An Alaskan Wedding #1.5, A Wild River Retreat #2.5, A Wild River Match #3.5 & Wild Alaskan Hearts #4.5 as well as Sweet Alaskan Fall #3 and Stars Over Alaska #4. I listened to the full length novels and read the short stories all over the last few weeks. I am glad I finished this series as I really enjoyed it. I’m not sure if it is finished or not, but I am caught up.

Thriller Thursday – Killing Mind, Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six #BookReview #Audiobook @Bookouture @HarperAudio

Welcome to Thriller Thursday! Read on for my reviews of Killing Mind, a crime thriller featuring D.I. Kim Stone by Angela Marsons and a Psychological Thriller, Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six by Lisa Unger. These are two authors that are among my auto-reads and although not their best books, both are enjoyable.

#FinishingTheSeries2022: Widow’s Island Series by Kendra Elliott and Melinda Leigh #BookReview #audiobook #2022AudiobookChallenge #BrillanceAudio #KendraElliot @MelindaLeigh1

The Widow’s Island series is ten novellas, so far, set on Widow’s Island or the many small islands in the vicinity. This series is written by a pair of authors, Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh. They feature former FBI special agent, Cate Wilde, her fiancé and island doctor, Henry Powers as well as local Deputy Tessa Black and her fiancé, park ranger Logan Wilde. Melinda Leigh’s novellas are written from the point of view of Deputy Tessa Black, while Kendra Elliot’s focus on Tessa’s best friend Cate, a former FBI agent, who also happens to be Tessa’s fiance’s sister, although they appear in all the books. I listened to #5 to #10 over the last three weeks and loved the narration. Each audiobook is around 3 hours to listen to at normal speed and were great to listen to when I had a long car ride or mundane tasks around the house. I recommend this series and if you have Kindle Unlimited, they are all available with the read/listen option.

Mini-Reviews: The Book of Candlelight, Ink & Shadows (#3 and #4 in the Secret, Book & Scone Society) #BookReview #Audiobook #FinishTheSeries2022 #2022AudiobookChallenge

Secret, Book & Scone Society is a wonderful cozy mystery series. If you like cozy mysteries set in or around bookstores, you will love this series. If you enjoy protagonists with interesting jobs or interests, you will love meeting Nora Pennington, a self-styled bibliotherapist. If you enjoy small town stories with some quirky or wounded characters, then I recommend this series.

Mini-Reviews: Buckhorn, Montana series by B.J. Daniels – From the Shadows (2), At the Crossroads (3), Out of the Blue (3.5), Before Buckhorn (4), Before Memories Fade (4.5)Under a Killer Moon (5) #BookReview #Audiobook #FinishingTheSeries2022 @HarperAudio @bjdanielsauthor

I recently began listening to Under a Killer Moon by B.J. Daniels and realized this was a series that I had read one book from. I put this one away and grabbed the three previous books in this series and enjoyed them all. I listened to the audiobooks narrated by Corey Snow and was hooked, listening to one after another. You do not need to read or listen to them in order as each book is about a different character, with secondary characters being from other books in the series. There were also 2 novellas/short stories that I enjoyed on two of the audiobooks.

Robert Brynda’s Detective Erika Foster Series 5 & 6: Cold Blood & Deadly Secrets #BookReview #Audiobook #BeatTheBacklist2022 #FinishingTheSeries2022 #2022AudiobookChallenge @Bookouture

With Robert Byrndza’s long awaited 7th book in his Detective Erika Foster series coming out this summer, I wanted to catch up on this series. I recently purchased several audiobooks in this series during an audible sale, so I was able to do a read/listen, however, I basically ended up just listening to Jan Cramer’s wonderful narration.
