Welcome to Thriller Thursday. Both of the books I am reviewing today are psychological thrillers, one with secrets the other with a missing child. Both books have children playing an important role in the stories. I have had these K.L. Slater books on my TBR for quite awhile. I found both of them on audio at audible and was able to listen to them from the plus catalogue.

The Bookshop of Secrets is a mystery, adventure and story of new beginnings and healing. The Prayer Box is a story of self-worth, new beginnings, speaking up for those who can’t and family. Both of these books also have romance in them, but that is NOT the main focus of either book. The Prayer Box is my fourth book read for my 12 Friends, 12 Books Challenge, so I am one book ahead of schedule.

Both of these books have some issues that the characters must deal with, decisions to be made and personal growth. I enjoyed them both, although they are very different from one another. I hope you enjoy them if you decide to read them.

The Missing Ones is the first story in the D.I. Lottie Parker series and Patricia Gibney’s debut published in 2017. She is up to #12 in the series and I hope to enjoy many more days with this wonderful group of characters. For Reading Ireland, I thought this was a good time to finally read a few books from the series and I enjoyed the first and second, The Stolen Girls. It was interesting to see that Lottie’s life (a widow with three children) is similar to Patricia Gibney’s own life (see About the Author at the end of the post).

Lotte Parker: The Missing Ones, The Stolen Girls #BookReview #Audiobook #CrimeThriller #ReadingIrelandMonth23 @Bookouture @trisha460”I love books with older, more mature characters. Being a senior myself, I enjoy reading books with characters that I can identify with, laugh with, cry with and go on a journey with. These three of the latest I have read or listened to that I highly recommend.

I read several positive reviews of Taste on blogs I follow, so when I saw my library had this one, I requested the audiobook and enjoyed it very much. This is a very different take on a memoir, but it is well written.

Well, it’s not November, but I wanted to share this pairing that I read this week. Set on You is about an Instagram influencer dealing with Body Positivity or being a curvy, healthy woman who is also a trainer. The second book is You Just Need to Lose Weight and 19 Other Myths About Fat People by Aubrey Gordon. Aubrey Gordon, also known as Your Fat Friend, is an author, podcaster, and activist. She writes about fatness, fat acceptance, and anti-fat bias, and her podcast, Maintenance Phase, focuses on the poor science behind health and wellness fads. I learned about Aubrey on AmandaKay’s blog, where she read another book by Aubrey Gordon and mentioned her blog. I was angry as I read this book because, fat discrimination is rampant and it shouldn’t be. Read on for my thoughts on these books.
