During Non-Fiction November month, there is usually a post that pairs a Fiction and Non-Fiction book about the same topic. Well, it’s not November, but I wanted to share this pairing that I read this week. Set on You is about an Instagram influencer dealing with Body Positivity or being a curvy, healthy woman who is also a trainer. The second book is You Just Need to Lose Weight and 19 Other Myths About Fat People by Aubrey Gordon. Aubrey Gordon, also known as Your Fat Friend, is an author, podcaster, and activist. She writes about fatness, fat acceptance, and anti-fat bias, and her podcast, Maintenance Phase, focuses on the poor science behind health and wellness fads. I learned about Aubrey on AmandaKay’s blog, where she read another book by Aubrey Gordon and mentioned her blog. I was angry as I read this book because, fat discrimination is rampant and it shouldn’t be. Read on for my thoughts on these books.

Both of these books were perfect for educating me about something that had happened in the past and I didn’t know a lot about. I found The Vanishing of Margaret Small to be very emotional for me and want to thank Sandy over at Sandy’s Book A Day for this recommendation. You can read her review here.

I need you to pretend it is Thursday. I had this post ready, but didn’t schedule it, so it is Sunday and I finally pressed the publish button. I finally finished the DI Kim Stone series, or at least caught up because I hope there will be more in the series. I also am a big fan of Joy Fielding, so when The Housekeeper showed up at my library in audiobook format, I decided it would be an interesting one to listen to while down at the pool. I enjoyed all three of them, some more than others, but I recommend them all.
