Three sweet romance stories made their way to the top of my TBR mountain over the past few weeks. All are part of a series with The Forever Farmhouse being the first in Hometown Brothers. The other two are both the final books in their trilogy and 12 book series. Although they were all different from one another, they were all enjoyable and ended with a Happily Ever After.

The Forever Farmhouse (Hometown Brothers #1) by Lee Tobin McClain, Tanya Eby (Narrator)

Published September 6th 2022 by HQN Books, Harlequin Audio

4 Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Forever Farmhouse is the first book in the Hometown Brothers series by Lee Tobin McClain and it is a great start to the series. Ryan Hastings came to Teaberry Island as a troubled youth and lived with foster parents, Wayne and Betty Raines. He fell in love with the girl next door, Mellie Anderson. He left her to go to college and had not returned until the funeral of Wayne Raines. Now a well known scientist, he gets a job working on the island so he could make sure Betty is doing okay. It doesn’t take long for his feelings for Mellie to resurface. Mellie also loved Ryan and they had one wonderful night together before he left. When she found out she was pregnant, she married someone else and everyone assumed that her son Alfie was his, but Mellie and Wayne knew the truth. Alfie is an extremely bright boy who is teased and bullied. Ryan knows how he feels and steps in and gives him some extra support. What will happen when Ryan realized that Alfie is his son?

This was a good story about new beginnings, second chances, bullying, gifted children, secrets and lies. Wayne and Mellie thought they had good reasons for keeping the secret of Alfie’s parentage, but lies and secrets always have a way to come back and bite you. I loved Alfie and felt bad for him. He wasn’t accepted by the other kids and was lost and alone, causing him to make some mistakes that could have ended badly. The story is a bit predictable, but the story was sweet and I enjoyed being swept up in it. I am already looking forward to the next book in the series. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Tanya Eby. She is a narrator that I have listened to often, with her calm voice and sweet sound it is a perfect fit for this romance.

Thief of Fate (Providence Falls #3) by Jude Deveraux, Tara Sheets, Susan Bennett (Narrator)

Published October 25th 2022 by MIRA, Harlequin Audio

4 Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thief of Fate is the third and final book in the Providence Falls series. This trilogy is a time travel series, where Liam and Cora were in love centuries ago, but were not meant to be. It is now the present and Cora is a police officer, who is supposed to end up with Finn. Liam has been sent to the present to bring them together. Each book in the trilogy ended in a cliffhanger that did not make me happy, but it was worth the wait as the conclusion was wonderful. It is important to note that this series should be read in order to get the most out of the story.

Liam and Cora are partners in the police department and are working with Finn a local lawyer to solve a murder and get to the bottom of what they believe is police corruption. The more they work together, the harder it is for Liam to resist his feelings for Cora, but he must, or risk eternal damnation according to the Angels. The love triangle is interesting, and although I am not a fan of that, it moved the plot of this book along in a wonderful way. There was little of everything in this book, murder, danger, love, and mystery that kept me reading and listening. There were a couple of twists and wow, that ending! I don’t want to spoil it, so I will just say, I enjoyed the plot, loved the characters and am hoping the Jude Deveraux and Tara Sheets will bring us more about Finn. Maybe a spinoff?? The audiobook was narrated by Susan Bennett and she does a good job with all aspects of the story. She gives the characters unique voices, adding expression and tone to evoke emotion from the characters. I enjoyed listening to this one and recommend this series.

A Cowboy Thanksgiving (Mountain Monroes #12) by Melinda Curtis

Published August 23rd 2022 by Harlequin Heartwarming

4 Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was such a great Thanksgiving story with family and romance. Maxine Holloway is an orphan that is used to spending holidays with her cousin’s family. He isn’t going home for Thanksgiving this year, so asks his friend, Bo Monroe if Max, and orphan, can spend the holiday with his family in Second Chance, Idaho. Bo agrees, but when Max and her daughter arrive he is flummoxed. This is not what he was expecting at all. At the same time, his family has decided to resurrect the family Thanksgiving Challenge, something that Bo has always come in last for. He has feelings of insecurity and sees himself as a loser where the challenge is involved, but is sure he will win this year, even with Max and her daugher, Luna. Bo is the last bachelor in the Monroe clan, so you know this will end in a HEA, but it was a fun story getting there.

I have read several of the Mountain Monroe series, but jumped ahead to this one, which is the last in the series. The Monroe clan is large, loud and boisterous, something Max is not used to at all. She is a calm, quiet woman, who is happy in her world of academia, but borrows holidays to give Luna a somewhat normal life. Luna was delightful. She was a bit precocious, but basically was a sweet little girl who just wanted fun, friends and to take everything in. She stole my heart, as well as Bo’s. Bo’s and Max’s relationship developed pretty quickly with the family pushing them together. With forced proximity, their banter was wonderful and the chemistry jumped off the page. This is a sweet, family romance with a lot of fun and festivity. I enjoyed this conclusion to the Mountain Monroe series and will definitely go back and read the books I missed. If you like a heartwarming romance, then I recommend you pick up A Cowboy Thanksgiving, or any book in this series.
