It is November and that means Novella November. I selected these three Christmas romances to fulfill my goal of four novellas, one per week. I also used these books in my Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon. I enjoyed them all.

Christy Taylor is basically a single mom, having divorced her husband when he complained that his daughter, diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes was not perfect enough for him. She couldn’t take the way he treated her, so she moved away, all the way to Vancouver Island. She has her hands full trying to get her daughter’s illness under control, but also is behind in her rent as her business is not doing well. She is dodging her landlord, trying to figure out what to do. She sees a brooding man on the beach each day when she goes for her walks and when she draws some sketches of him, he tears up them up and is extremely rude to her, but she gives back as good as she gets. Joel Carpenter is a well know author who is dealing with writers block. He doesn’t want some reporter bothering him. What neither of them realize is that Joel is Christy’s landlord. Fate pushes them together and as they get to know one another, sparks begin to fly.

I enjoyed this short novella about two people, both with baggage and some emotional damage. It takes a young girl and an older woman to make them realize that it is okay to open up and share those hurts as well as to open up to love. This is my first book by Jacquie Biggar and I will definitely read more. Her characters were well developed for a novella and the story did not seem rushed. Being set in Canada and in places I have visited also gave me a connection. This is a sweet romance that I really enjoyed and recommend it you are looking for a quick, enjoyable, Christmas story. Molly McCarty looking for a fresh start after a terrible divorce. She sees an opportunity to be a partner in Mistletoe Inn, a B&B in Christmas Michigan. She makes all the arrangements over the phone with the older woman who she will partner with. Driving across country with her five year old son Leo is almost at an end, but a snowstorm and a deer work together to cause an accident. She ends up in a ditch and it is a dog who finds them. He barks until his master comes to find out what is going on. Noah Kincaid finds them and brings them back to his inn, Mistletoe Inn. His aunt has recently died from cancer and he is now partners with Molly. Noah is grieving her death, but also still feeling guilt from a fire that killed his parents many years ago. Can these two battered souls find relief working and living together?

Another sweet romance set during the winter and festive season. I enjoyed getting to know both Molly and Noah. He is closed off and doesn’t do the social part of running an Inn, that will be Christy’s job and she is good at it. She is honest, open and great with people and that has Noah opening up to her. Of course, Leo is also great at breaking the ice as most kids are. This is a quick story, but it doesn’t seem that way. The relationship of Noah and Christy is gradual, but consistently changing. I really liked Noah’s character. He begins as the strong, silent type, but quickly opens up to Leo, then Christy and finally the guests. This is another well written Christmas Romance Novella that I enjoyed by Jacquie Biggar. Another one that is available on Kindle Unlimited that I recommend.

There are two books before this one, and I recommend your read them all in order. It’s Christmas time in Mermaid’s Point and everyone is getting ready for the holidays. Two couples from the previous books, Nerissa & Tom and Laurie & Jake are getting ready for their first Christmas as a couple and blended family. Decisions need to be made and families need compromise their holiday traditions. Other characters are dealing with their own issues, but hope and love are in the air.

This is a sweet book with familiar characters and new ones. Other reviewers suggest it is an epilogue for the first two books and an introduction to the next, which does make sense. Sarah Bennett mentions this in her notes. I do enjoy her series and characters and this one is no exception. This is a very sweet and endearing Christmas novella, a peek into the lives of several lovely couples embarking on their love stories. I am ready to read the rest of the series, so you better get writing, Sarah.
