It is time to change the cover image for the Positivity Wave. The pool is open and we are enjoying backyard fun.
Hello and Happy Friday! I decided to join in The Positivity Wave. Originally started by Meggy @Chocolate’n’Waffles. It is a time to spread some positivity amongst all the doom and gloom on social media and in the news. Please feel free to join in with your own Happy Friday post.
As I stated above, the pool is open. I have been in almost every day since last Friday. Today my family came over (it was a PD Day for school) and we had a lot of fun. My granddaughter has been spoiled because she is here for school each day, so she gets to go in everyday after online/virtual school ends.
School is almost finished for the year. We have eleven more days, but I only have her for 7 because I don’t do Mondays or Wednesdays. I can’t believe how well she does with the actual computer access. I just have to keep her on task and make sure she does the work after the lesson. We have gone to the park a couple of times and she did a little dance for her talent show that was very well received.
My daughter was replacing the windows in her house, so Sherman would have gone crazy. He spent three days at my house and we had a lot of fun. He loves to swim!
I finally finished watching the Gilmore Girls. Seven seasons, 22 episodes a season and I didn’t want it to end. I couldn’t believe the last two episodes had me in tears. It was like saying good-bye to good friends. I will watch Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, but it is only four episodes.
I have started golfing again. Our golf courses just reopened with restrictions loosening and I am thrilled (that is why I no longer have my granddaughter on Mondays). I didn’t do too badly for my first time out since last October.
I broke my toe last weekend, I seem to do it every year. It put a damper on my walking and exercising and I couldn’t golf this past week, but I have been able to do some exercise in the pool. I have lost 11 pounds in the last month of healthy living, so feel pretty good about that. I am continuing to try and eat healthier, with no really sweet and fattening foods in the house.
I did find a new recipe that is a hit with the kids. I had some left over pumpkin, so I made pumpkin oatmeal cookies with maple glaze. They were easy and yummy. Recipe
My Tuesday night ladies zoom group started a new study this called, Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table by Lou Giglio. It started off well and I enjoy meeting up with this group each week. Thank goodness for Zoom.
Once again, I read and listened to a lot of great books over the last two weeks. I did have a couple that were just okay for me (3 or 3.5 stars), but I also had several that I really enjoyed (4 or 5 stars). I thoroughly enjoy all the great reads I have had.
I have a couple of cartoons or saying that made me smile this week.
I continue to believe that recognizing the good things that happen each week, means I will not dwell on the not so good things. I am truly blessed with all the good things in my life.
So to finish up, I ask that you try to be grateful for one thing each day and I am sure it will lift your spirits. What are you Grateful for today?

I am clearly behind the times, but I enjoyed reading this. The pumpkin cookies are even timely. I bought the Gilmore Girls DVD’s years ago. It’s about time for me to watch them again. I loaned them to my daughter when she had an extended illness. She is the one who introduced me to them. Despite my age, I identified so much with the young Rory who always has a backpack full of books. She needed one for each of life’s various situations. After all, you never know when you might be in the mood for poetry or a memoir…

Thanks Linda. I am so glad I finally watched this series, I really enjoyed it. I was also very Rory-like when I was her age, although my reading was not nearly as deep.

Sorry to hear about your toe.
You are so busy! Good for you! And kudos for walking when you are able to and eating healthier. I hope you just feel so much better with these changes.
I’m somewhat surprised to see you have a pool in Canada. Is it worth it? I’d think you might only have it open for a couple of weeks a year and its maintenance is quite constly.

Thanks Sam. I open my pool the last week in May and close it second week of October or later if we are supposed to have a warm/hot fall. I get a good 5 months out of it. I do have a heater though and put a solar blanket on it every night. We are actually as far south as the California-Oregon border.

I have Gilmore Girls added on my Netflix and I keep debating on starting to watch since I haven’t seen them but I also tell myself it’s like long book series, do I really want to start on that many seasons? Who knows, maybe someday.🤣

I have been talking about watching it for so long, I decided to just give it a go. I started it the second week of October 2020, so it took me nine months of off and on watching for 154 episodes. Some weeks I didn’t watch at all, others I would binge 5 or 10 episodes a week. It is so good, but then I am older than you so a lot of the references I grew up with.

This was a good week for you, and it was good reading for me. It restored the good mood I woke up in and dispelled the funk I had let myself fall into. Thanks! I am grateful for positive friends like you.

I am so glad you are out of the funk. I am sure being able to get out and about helps a lot. Friends are the best, I don’t know what I would do without them. 😀🤗

So much to be positive for, Carla! The grandkids look super happy in the pool. I honestly have no idea how my kids wouldn’t survived last summer without a pool. We’re enjoying it this year more too because two of my youngest aren’t vaccinated yet. Sherman looks so happy too! Have a great weekend, Carla. Thanks for sharing your beautiful post. ❤️

Thanks Jen, there sure is. None of the grandkids have been vaccinated due to their age, but they are so good about wearing masks in public (all except the 2 year old). Sherman loves the pool and it is hard to keep him out of it. I love my pool and would not survive the summer without it. Have a great weekend. 💖🏊♀️🌞

Thanks Nicki. We spend most of the day in the pool yesterday, unfortunately, it was a bit more sun than the kids needed and they got a bit of a sunburn, even with sunscreen on.

Congratulations Carla! You are doing so well. Your pumpkin cookies sound delicious. I have plenty of pumpkin. Intending to make soup tomorrow. So pleased your pool is getting plenty of use. What did Sherman do to his leg? We have been having wonderful weather this week. Cold nights but almost summer temperatures during the days. Have a wonderful week. ❤📚

Thanks Sandy. Sherman licks and chews his leg, it is a nervous tick. He gets it bleeding sometimes, so we put that bandage on it when he get it raw. I think he was missing his momma and got to chewing this week. He is fine though. Glad you are having great weather, makes the summer last longer. 🌞🐶💖🏊♀️

Oh, I love this so much. So glad to hear that you have so many wonderful things going on, though I’m sorry to hear about the toe, Carla! Best of luck with golfing … I haven’t played in a couple of years, but I’m supposed to go out in two weeks, so I kind of know what you’re feeling. If nothing else, it’s going to be an interesting experience!

Do you get The Rookie (on ABC here) where you are? My hubs and I just completed a rewatch of 3 seasons. We love that show! Stars Nathan Fillion, star of Castle.

Sherman is a ham for sure. He loves to roll on dry towels when he gets out of the pool. Thanks for the encouragement, I am going slow and hopefully it will stay off. Yes, her mom cut her hair and I think I she did a great job. Toe feels better everyday. Still not wearing shoes, but can walk on it slowly.
