Hello and Happy Friday! I decided to join in The Positivity Wave. Originally started by Meggy @Chocolate’n’Waffles. It is a time to spread some positivity amongst all the doom and gloom on social media and in the news. Please feel free to join in with your own Happy Friday post and link to Meggy’s post so that she knows and say ‘hi’
We have been under a Stay at Home order this week, so I have had to find my positivity in other places this week. I have not seen my grandchildren this week, but we did a couple of video calls so I could at least see them and tell that I loved them.
Humour is such a great way to lift your spirits. A friend sends me jokes or videos almost everyday and this week, I loved them and they made me laugh. If you have never seen anything starring with comedian Michael McIntyre, you are missing some great humour, at least in my humble opinion. Check out this video on Youtube. It is a bit long, but it is so funny.
I was able to get outside a few days, but the weather was cooler than it has been. I attempted to fill the two pits I have in my yard from getting the trees removed a few years ago. Well after wheelbarrowing and dumping 20 bags of black earth, I have still not filled even one hole. I have another 14 bags in the garage, but it will be a few days before I get to them, I don’t want to hurt my back. Seeing that hole almost full, somewhat gives me a sense of accomplishment.
Going for walks and seeing spring flowers makes me smile and seeing my rhubarb growing is wonderful. I hope to soon be able to make rhubarb custard bars. Yummy.
I cooked a meal for a friend who is looking after her mother after a fall. I wanted something quick and easy and made Chicken Florentine. It was delicious and she told me they loved it. If you are looking for something easy and delicious as well as a different way to serve chicken, try this recipe, it was good served over rice.
After Easter, I always have ham left over and needed to use it up. I made a family favourite this week, ham and bean soup. The recipe I use calls it Old School Ham Bone Beans. It is so good and if you want to add a kick, add more cajun spice.
Being alone most of the week, I read and listened to a lot of books, many of them cozy mysteries, but also a couple of historical fiction and thrillers. I always feel happy when I find and enjoy a good book.
I am now on season 6 of Gilmore Girls. Only 42 more episodes to go. If you have never seen this series, it is a good one about living in a small town, and dealing specifically with the relationship between a single mom and her daughter.
Cutting my grass for the first time this year. My new neighbours have already cut their grass twice, so I was shamed into cutting mine, but it looks good and I love the smell of freshly cut grass.
I want to end on a humorous note as well. Another friend sent me these Maxine cartoons. Being of a certain age, I appreciate the humour.
I continue to believe that recognizing the good things that happen each week, means I will not dwell on the not so good things. I am truly blessed with all the good things in my life.
So to finish up, I ask that you try to be grateful for one thing each day and I am sure it will lift your spirits. What are you Grateful for today?
