Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga Reviews and Marlene of Reading Reality. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, books for review from authors, Netgalley, Edelweiss or publishers, gifts or books you won. If you click on the covers, it will take you to Goodreads (I hope).
So, I am giving up on my 2021 goal of not requesting books and getting my Netgalley ratio up to 70%. I can’t resist the wonderful sounding books that others are reviewing or highlighting.
Netgalley: 11 Books, 1 Audiobook
Edelweiss: 3 Novels
Blog Tours: 3 Novels, 1 MG book
Puchases: (I participated in a Kindle challenge in January and received a $5.00 credit, so I was able to purchase a couple of books that I have been looking at.) 2 Novels
Quite a few new addition this week. I have 18 ARCs added and 2 books from other sources, for a total of 20. I am on track to read 6 books and listen to another 8 audiobooks for a total of 14. My TBR continues to grow, ready to topple at any moment. 😁⛰📚 If it crushes me, I will die happy. 😂😂
What did you add to your shelves this week? Do any of these books appeal to you?

So many cool new titles. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on a few of them. LOL, on the NetGalley goal. Don’t let your ratio fall too far.

I am looking forward to reading them all. I am keeping it above 60% but it has not really budged from there. I keep saying I am going to stop looking and requesting, but I have no willpower.

I like your new perspective on all those requests. There are two reasons for keeping on top of your ARC’s. One is your percentage as you pointed out. Frankly, you review so many books that I doubt your percentage will affect your requests being accepted. In fact, I bet you are on a “good” list for a lot of publishers. The other is a little trickier, for me anyway, and that is the responsibility to review the books you have requested and hopefully in a timely manner. I have no idea where you stand on that. My life has changed since moving from Mexico, and I have less time to read. Along the way, I got behind and can’t catch up. I am requesting fewer, but also reading some with my book club. I am about half way through 2020 in my reading and reviewing. That really bothers me. But I’m not giving up; I will catch up, and I am still enjoying the books I read. That is the main thing.

I try to review in a timely manner, but that is not always done. I always review them even if they were already published as I believe that a review of an older book will bring it back to the attention of some readers. I have way more time to read than I did before, especially this year with not being able to go anywhere or do much. Once this pandemic eases and we all get vaccinated, I know my reading will slow down again. My percentage has not really changed in over a year. It goes up, then down. I have reviewed over 3300 book since I joined Netgalley, so I feel pretty good about that. I do not let it pressure me, I will get to them all eventually.

There are just so many tempting books out there . . . I am guilty of having a hard time resisting too. The Memory Collectors, for example, sounds really good. And what did I do, I immediately went to Netflix to see if it was there. I am looking forward to reading Death and Sensibility and Ladies of the House. Greer McAllister! I love her. I hope you enjoy Woman 99. I want to read that one too. I hope you enjoy all your new reads, Carla!

I am looking forward to all of the new additions to my shelf, but I know I need to pick and choose. The Ladies of the House has so many good reviews, I couldn’t resist it. I had wanted to read Woman 99 and when it was available on EW, I grabbed it. I think that will be one of the first ones I read.

I give up too…..off to Netgalley. You have a few there that are sitting in limbo on my wishlist. I wish they would just say yes or no and be done with it!❤📚

I agree, I hate the Wishlist and we can’t even see what we have wished for which is also aggravating. I hope you get some great approvals.

Thanks Michelle. You are so much more careful about requesting than I am.

Yes, I have read the first two books in the series and a few that she wrote for Harlequin. I have enjoyed all her books that I have read. They are sweet romances, not steamy.
