It’s the start of another week. It’s Monday! What are you Reading is hosted by Kathryn from Book Date, this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind. I have several books on the go, and some others I hope to get to, so here goes.
What I Read/Listened to or finished this week: I read 7 ebooks, and listened to 7 audiobooks for a total of 14 books. I did not follow my planned TBR except for the blog tours I had scheduled, otherwise, I was all over the place. I still have 2 reviews to post, but if you click on the covers and I have reviewed the book, it will take you to that post.
What Am I Reading Now?
What Am I Reading Next? Here are several that I plan to choose from, to read or listen to this week. A couple of them are for blog tours, so they are must reads, some are for February Challenges, so I need to get to them, a few are from the library and need to be returned by the end of the week, and the rest depend on my mood.

I’m curious to learn about your reaction to the lockdown poems. I am so “over” the lockdowns that I am not sure I would want to read about it. We got the news today that our county has finally met the governor’s criteria to go to “yellow” which means that any restaurant that has survived the last year (and many haven’t) can move from no indoor dining to 25% indoor dining and from no outdoor dining to 75% outdoor dining. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.

We are in red. Restaurants can have 10 people inside, no matter how big they are and only 4 at a table. It is too cold for outdoor dining. I have put the Lockdown book aside for awhile. I am reading it in bits when I have a few minutes here and there.

Proof that politics is more important than science in the lockdowns: what is a severe lockdown in one area/state/province can look very different than in another. Seriously, can crossing an invisible border make the difference between eating in a restaurant or not? Quarantining or not? Attending church? We have only had pickup or delivery for dining for about a year. Our temperatures are edging up, but there are only a few hours in the middle of the afternoon, not at a meal time, when it would be warm enough to eat outside. Not surprisingly, we have many businesses closing their doors, increases in domestic violence, and suicide. I look to God for the answers, because people are not handling this well.

Well said Linda. Our restaurants opened for about 3 months with restrictions and when our cases went up, they were closed again, but Walmart and Costco are open??? So many small businesses have closed and will not reopen. It will be a long recovery period I think. Prayers for strength, compassion and peace are huge needs and part of my regular prayer routine.

We are on the same page. The ups and downs with the closures are so hard on the businesses!🙏

A wonderful selection of books, Carla. I am reading Love’s REgister by Leslie TAte, Brody Cody and the haunted vacation house by Toni Pike (children’s book) and listening to A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles.

I keep saying I am going to listen to A Gentleman in Moscow. I have heard the narration is excellent. I hope you enjoy all of them, Robbie.

I loved The Hate You Give. Bought it in hardcover (to help support an independent bookstore) when it first came out. I also bought it in paperback when it when it was available because I had loaned my hardback and never got it back, and I badly wanted a copy to put in my LFL.
Haven’t read The Bookstore yet, but want to.
Happy reading!

I read most of the others in this series, so I wanted to read this one and it fit my Spell the Month in Books for February, as well as being a romance. I enjoyed all the others.

I did, thanks Christopher. It is a compilation of four novellas released separately, so it sounds like I can pick it up and put it down after each story if I have something I have to finish for a tour or the library.
