5 Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Art and Soul, by Claire Huston was a wonderful surprise. I never expected that I would enjoy this book as much as I did. After reading this book, I will definitely be looking for more books by Claire. Her characters are so realistic and lovable. I couldn’t believe Becky’s skills as a “fixer”. I had not idea what a fixer did, but as I read this story, not only was I in awe of Becky, but I also laughed out loud several times. She was a wonderful mom, friend and employee. She threw herself wholeheartedly into her job with Charlie and his daughter Phoebe. Charlie was adorable. A man who seldom spoke and when he did, only said what was necessary. He just wanted to be left alone, but if he wanted to make a living for himself and his daughter, he needed to find his muse. There were several secondary characters that were also likable and a great part of the story, but there were also some that I loved to hate. The friendship that grew between Charlie and Becky was amazing. They grew to trust one another more than spouses often did. This was especially important when it came to Becky’s two year old son. She felt very comfortable leaving him with Charlie, and Charlie felt the same. There was a lot to laugh about in this story, there was a lot to awe about and some that made me a bit weepy, but overall, it was a great uplifting story about friendship, trust, love and self-confidence. You will cheer at the end of this one when all Becky’s hard work comes to fruition, but the journey to get there was even better. I definitely recommend this one if you enjoy a wonderful contemporary story with a happy ending. Art and Soul is available on Kindle Unlimited or for purchase at Amazon.

About the Book: A heart-warming, uplifting romance served with a generous slice of cake
There’s no problem Becky Watson can’t fix. Except her own love life…
Struggling single mother Becky Watson longs to revive her career as a life-fixer, working miracles to solve her clients’ problems, no matter how big or small. Since the birth of her two-year-old son she has been stuck preventing wedding fiascos for the richest and rudest residents of the Comptons, a charming, leafy area of southern England known for its artistic heritage.
So when semi-reclusive local artist Charlie Handren reluctantly hires Becky to fix his six-year creative slump, she’s delighted to set him up with a come-back exhibition and Rachel Stone, the woman of his dreams. Though they get off to a rocky start, Becky and Charlie soon become close. But as the beautiful Rachel becomes Charlie’s muse, Becky is forced to wonder: will giving Charlie everything he wants mean giving up her own happily ever after?

My debut novel – an uplifting contemporary romance – is out now in ebook and paperback. You can read more about that in Art and Soul (or head straight over to Amazon to buy it now!) I’m a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association New Writers’ Scheme.
I live in the Midlands, UK, with my husband and two children. I work as a Spanish-English translator and when I’m not struggling to write, I try to read, bake, and generally keep chaos at bay. A keen amateur baker, I enjoy making cakes, biscuits and brownies almost as much as eating them.
