Synopsis: Brandt Grace is trouble no matter what he says or does, always getting in his own way, and trying to prove he can do better and be better only to fall on his face. Saving Grace follows Brandt’s unintentional fall for Lola Donovan, the previously friendly girl turned quiet ghost of a girl. They connect at rock bottom, finding an unexpected source of strength in each other. Can they find a way to leave the past behind and build a future together?
Lola Donovan is hiding. She is hiding from her family, her friends and the town. Besides going to work, she stays home. What is she hiding? Brandt Grace has the reputation of being a bad boy. He has been suspected of dealing drugs, he’s an alcoholic and has a terrible temper. Is any of that true?
Saving Grace is the 4th book of the Fox River Romance series written by Jess B. Moore. This book is told in alternating points of view between Lola and Brandt. Even though they have known each other since kindergarten, they really don’t know a lot about each other. When they meet up on Thanksgiving the attraction is there, an undercurrent that neither is comfortable with. With Brandt having nowhere to go that night after being kicked out of the house he was sharing, Lola invites him to live in her spare room until he finds somewhere else. What happens next is wonderful. I do not want to ruin the story for anyone, but these two damaged souls heal each other in an amazing way.
This is a story about forgiveness, especially forgiving yourself. It deals with new beginnings when you finally let go of your past. Some of the issues touched upon include alcoholism, domestic abuse and sexual assault, but not in any graphic ways. This is a romance, but it is more than that. It shows how two people who love each other can heal one another by accepting mistakes and moving on. I recommend this story to those who enjoy new beginnings and sweet romance.
About the Author: Jess B. Moore is a writer of love stories. When she’s not writing, she’s busy mothering her accomplished and headstrong children, reading obscene numbers of books, and knitting scarves she’ll likely never finish.
Jess lives in small town North Carolina with her bluegrass obsessed family. She takes too many pictures of her cats, thinking the Internet loves them as much as she does. She is a firm believer of swapping stories over coffee or wine, and that there should always be dark chocolate involved.
The Guilt of a Sparrow is her debut novel combining her interests in family, music, and small towns into a thoughtful tale of growing up and falling in love. Her second book, Fierce Grace, follows similar themes in a whole new way, and can be read as a tie-in or stand-alone. The Worth of a Penny (sequel or stand-alone) released March 2019. Look forward to more books from Jess in the Fox River Romance series.
