Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme originally created by The Broke and the Bookish. It is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week’s theme is Books On My TBR I’m Avoiding Reading and Why. I am not avoiding any of these books or I would have taken them off my TBR list, but I am delaying reading them for various reasons. The main reasons I would be delaying reading a book on my TBR include the book is really long or it is a book I want to read, but with so many new books, it gets pushed aside. Most of these books have been on my TBR for years, but I don’t take them off because I really to want to read them.
- Barkskins by Annie Proulx
- Look Homeward, Angel by Thomas Wolfe
- The Clockmaker’s Daughter by Kate Morton
- The Camel Club (Camel Club #1) by David Baldacci
- The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
- All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
- The Alice Network by Kate Quinn
- The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
- Midwives by Chris Bohjalian
- The Bear by Claire Cameron
So there you have it. Ten books I am keeping on my TBR, but not sure when I will get to them. Have you read any of these books? Which one should I start with? Do you have books on your TBR that you seem to be avoiding?

They just made a movie of The Goldfinch, so maybe read that one next so you could see the movie? I hope you love all of these if you get to them 😀

Thanks Darinda. It seems many people have some of these on their TBR, so it is good to hear that am not alone.

Yes! I’ve read several of your ten terrors.LOL
Read Barkskins while you are reading other books, maybe novels or cozy mysteries. It will take time, but it will be worth it!
The Poisonwood Bible will require a similar strategy.
It took me two false starts over two years to finally get it right–guess the third try is the charm–on All the Light We Cannot See, but when I tackled it seriously and exclusively, it flowed right along.
Good luck with getting to these. Maybe you and I need to have our own mini-marathon towards clearing our TBR shelves!

I am going to slow way down with blog tours and then I will have the time to buckle down and read some of the books mentioned. Thanks for the tip on Barkskins. I will pair it up with some easy reads. I am still trying to finish our A to Z challenge Rae. I vow to finish it by the end of the year.

I am reading X and Z right now, and I have a copy of Y, and I’ll be done! I had also pledged to be done by the end of the year, but I’m aiming for Halloween.

You’ll make it. I have to stop and read The Goldfinch before meeting with a discussion after the movie next Saturday!

I do that with some of my favorite purchases. I like to savour the buy, before giving in and reading the book, lol

The Clockmaker’s Daughter just didn’t cut it with me and I really like Kate Morton typically. I did also read All The Light We Cannot See. Not a light read, but interesting! Good luck! I have a bunch like this as well!

All The Light We Cannot see is wonderful! I am also avoiding Goldfinch…too long. I hope to read The Alice Network this year.

Most of these are on my TBR too. But I think I’ll read The Goldfinch very soon. I saw the trailer for the movie adaptation and liked it.

I have read most of them and the only one I disliked was All The Light…. I know I am in the minority on that one. I use to love Kingsolver but recently she’s gotten all preachy and political. Poisonwood was great however along with the Tartt book. Enjoy them all, Carla!
