Welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books! The main object is to grab the book nearest you and share the first line.
Today, I am sharing the first two lines from a book I am in the middle of reading, This is a series that I have been hearing about and thought I would jump into.
Died in the Wool (Whisky Business Mystery #4) by Melinda Mullet
It was a picture-perfect day for walking, and Liam trotted along happily at my heels as we made our way up the long drive toward the Larches, the MacEwen family estate and home to my business partner, Grant MacEwen.
What do you think about this first line? Would it entice you to read this book? Have you already read this one?
Now, it’s your turn. What are you reading? What is your first line?
Open the book nearest you and post the first line in the comments below…

It may be a good book, but the first line didn’t draw me in.

I am halfway through and really enjoying it. You’re right that the first line is not a hook at all.

Um… sorry… this left me bored, I’m afraid. Oh well… not for everyone I guess.

I totally agree Davida. Not a grabber, that’s for sure. Maybe because it is the fourth in the series?

Hm… actually, you’d think that as a series progresses, that the quality should increase. Depending on your previous popularity is lazy, if you ask me.
