This was no cold marble—this was a man!

Antonia goes to Tuscany to rebuild her life. The last thing she wants to do is fall in love, least of all with rich, arrogant, aristocratic Lorenzo. Librarian Antonia Gray has fled England for northern Tuscany after an unhappy love affair to work on the archive of a 17th century Italian explorer, a member of a centuries-old aristocratic family. There she meets his descendent, Lorenzo Quattromani, rich, arrogant, handsome—and engaged to the beautiful and ruthless Giselle. The last thing Antonia wants is to fall in love, least of all with someone so dangerous. His engagement, though, is not what it seems, and Lorenzo breaks down Antonia’s resistance. But Giselle has other ideas.

      4 Stars:

Tuscan Enchantment is not a long story, but it is a well-developed romance that I enjoyed. As another reviewer mentioned, do not judge this book by the cover. Our heroine in this story is a rather shy librarian who is demure and has a pure and innocent beauty, she is also a librarian. Add this to the fact that this story takes place in a gorgeous, unspoiled area of Tuscany and it is a beautiful romance.

In this story we follow Antonia Gray as she heads to Tuscany to work with a septuagenarian, Countess Quattromani to go through her ancestors archives and organize them for public research. Uninvited guests, Lorenzo Quattromani and his haughty fiancee arrive and turn the castle upside down. Antonia is attracted and repulsed by this handsome and arrogant man. This is where the fairytale romance takes place. Lorenzo falls for Antonia and when his fiancee heads to New York for business, they fall in love. Of course, things do not go smoothly and their relationship is doomed. I knew what was coming, but I still enjoyed this story while waiting for the Happily Ever After.

I enjoyed the descriptive writing of Kate Zarrelli. I could picture the things and setting that she described and oh, how I want to travel to Tuscany. The characters were well developed and relatable as well. Antonia and Lorenzo are opposites and as they say, opposites attract. She’s quiet, less traveled, shy, loyal yet self-conscious with self-esteem issues. He is strong, virile, rich, well-traveled, experienced and arrogant as well a being swoon-worthy. I loved the character of the Countess. She was loving, loyal, yet crotchety and opinionated. When she loves, she loves strongly, when she holds a grudge, it takes a while to admit she is wrong. I enjoyed these characters. The one we were meant to dislike, Giselle, was very unlikable and I had no problem wanting her to get what she was due. I enjoyed the story, even though I had a good idea what was going to happen. It has romance, some sexual escapades, drama and a couple of twists. I will be looking for more romance from Kate Zarrelli. I received a copy of this book from Rachel’s Random Resources upon request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.
