Welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books! The book I’m featuring for you today is next up on my TBR list. The main object is to grab the book nearest you and share the first line.
My first two lines this week is from Chickens Eat Pasta by Clare Pedrick.
Prologue: People often ask me what made me do what I did. I reply that life is not always a case of making conscious choices.
About the Book: Not just another romance, but a story of escapism, coincidences, friendship, luck and most of all… love. Chickens Eat Pasta is the tale of how a young Englishwoman starts a new life after watching a video showing a chicken eating spaghetti in a mediaeval hill village in central Italy.
“Here I was, 26 years old, alone and numb with boredom at the prospect of a future which until recently had seemed to be just what I wanted.”
What do you think about this first line? Would it entice you to read this book?
Now, it’s your turn. What are you reading? What is your first line?
Open the book nearest you and post the first line in the comments below…
