I found this tag on Cleopatra Loves Books. It was interesting to read her answers and it got me thinking about my own, so here goes.
How many books are you planning to read in 2019?
I set my Goodread Challenge for 700 books but that include Children’s and Picture Books. I hope to read/listen to 350 novels this year. I read 740 books in 2018, but 310 were books under 100 pages including a lot of picture books and easy reader books that I read to my grandchildren and reviewed as ARCs.
Name five books you didn’t get to read this year but want to make a priority in 2018?
There are way more than five. I have a habit of making a TBR, then changing and reading something else instead. If I have to pick 5 it would be these ones:
Name a genre you want to read more of?
I am trying to read more Historical Fiction and Fantasy. I have a love/hate relationship with Fantasy as I like some and detest others. I have a few bloggers I follow that love fantasy and I am going to try choosing from some they have rated highly.
Three non book related goals for 2019?
- Eat Healthy
- Go back to the gym (I have been paying a membership fee for the last two years and have gone a half a dozen times. I used to go at least 5 times a week.)
- Spend more time with people. I have become a bit of a hermit in the last two years since I lost my husband. I need to get out more and spend time with people that I am not related to.
What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?
I bought this copy of Little Women back in the early 1980s and it has been on my bookshelf unopened since then. I keep saying I am going to read it, but it hasn’t happened yet.
One word that you’re hoping 2019 will be?
Healthy. My goal for the year is to get healthy. I have three wonderful grandchildren and I really want to be around for many more years to enjoy them. Getting healthy will be the first step to doing that.

I am not going to tag anyone specifically, but if you are in a sharing mood, then consider yourself tagged.

Carla, it was nice to know more about you. I liked all the 3 goals I want to do them too, eat healthy, go for walks (I don’t like gyms ) meet people (I lost the person I loved and that hurt me too much, hence I hardly venture out)

It sounds like we are both in the same boat. I have to say, starting the year here in Florida has made it easier for me to work on those goal. With the sunshine, the pool and so many people around, I am doing well with two of my goals. I just hope I can continue when I get back home. Good luck to you as well, it is so hard to move forward when we are hurting.

I love these tags and I’m putting it on my weekly to do list!
Short books or no, that is an amazing book count for 2018. Wowzers!
Little Women is my favorite classic from when I was a young girl. The first book I ever reread (and read and read and read). I keep meaning to reread it again as it’s been SO many years since I last did. I hope you enjoy it!
And Pieces of Her is on my backlist TBR for this year. Maybe not top 5, but up there. Karin Slaughter hasn’t disappointed me yet.
Have a wonderful reading year, Carla!

Thanks Myndi. I have so many that I missed last year it was a hard decision. I think I picked some from authors I love and was disappointed that I didn’t get to them, so they are at the top of my list for this year. You have convinced me, when I get home, Little Women will be on my list of books to read that I own!

Good luck with your non-book related goals. I lost my mother a little over a year ago after caring for her for about a year. I didn’t emerge for 6 months so I know a bit of what you’re experiencing (losing a spouse is even worse). I’m in a great place these days, not exactly where I was before, but better. Just make a point to get out everyday and do something, even if it’s just to the grocery store☺️

That was what I realized Jonetta. There were many days that I only opened the door to check the mail and get the paper. Here in Florida, I go down to the pool everyday. Do an aquafit class and talk to people. Along with the sun, I am feeling so much better and fulfilling two goals at once. Thanks.

Good for you, those are good goals. Yes, Burning Ridge–I really like Mizushima. I keep looking for groups, or MeetUps that work for me. Have tried several–trying another the end of this month. There are a lot of book clubs, but I need education. Bookish, internet, social media. We’ll see how this one goes.

Good luck with your new group. Any bookclubs I have tried are very social with wine and food. There might be some basic discussion of the book. When I go home, I am going to try the bookclub my local library is running.
