My Review: This is a beautiful, poetic rhyming version of the traditional story of Mary and Joseph. It is a good introduction to the biblical story for children. The story starts with Mary and Joseph and the donkey. The donkey watches over them, giving Mary a ride on its back, letting them use its body to rest and at the end, the only thing awake watching over the little family as everyone else sleeps.  This is the WASP version of the story with Mary and Joseph being white and the wisemen showing up at the stable instead of years later at their home, but this is the story that children are told when they are young. I absolutely loved the illustrations. The papercraft gave the book a three dimensional quality. The colours were perfect and the illustrations warm and inviting. A wonderful book for any church library or family library that celebrates and believes in this aspect of Christmas. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.
