Publisher: Welcome to Torte—a friendly, small-town family bake shop where the oven is heating up as high as the body count…

Jules Capshaw is still chewing over her husband Carlos’s return to Ashland, Oregon. Could there be too many cooks in the kitchen? Whatever is stirring between those two will have to wait. Despite the Oregon Shakespeare Festival being dark for the winter, the bakeshop is bustling, the dough is rolling, and there’s no rest for the weary…especially when murder is thrown into the mix.

When Mindy Nolan, the owner of a new restaurant in town, turns up dead, the batter at hand thickens. Jules knows that there was bad blood between Mindy and others in town, and tracking down the killer could prove to be an unwelcome treat. And to top it all off, there’s Carlos, who is pleading—with those delicious dark eyes and sexy Spanish accent—for Jules to take him back. Is home where the heart is or will she make a fresh start…and risk getting burned?

My Review: Juliet Montague Capshaw lives in Ashland, Oregon. This little town is home to a Shakespearean Festival and as you can tell from her name, this is embraced by the townspeople. Businesses are named after Sharespeare’s works or other Elizabethan ties. Juliet works with her mother in the family bakery/cafe, Torte. She has returned from working on a cruise ship where she met and married Carlos. After finding out that Carlos was keeping secrets from her she returned home and finding out how much she missed her family, the town and the business she has decided to stay in Destiny. Carlos has come to visit and is doing his best to convince Juliet to return to the ship with him. Baking keeps Juliet focused and when a new eatery moves in across the street, Juliet will need to keep focused, especially after she may have walked in on a murder! There are various storylines in this book involving several characters which keeps you interested and wondering “who done it”. A thoroughly enjoyable and delicious story. The recipes at the back of the book look extremely appealing and are all enjoyed in the story.

This is the fourth book in this series and even though I have not read any of the others, I had no problem enjoying the story of knowing what was going on. This is a fun, interesting series that will leave you wanting more and with you stomach growling. Cozy mystery readers will enjoy this one.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
